He couldn't order a fricking coffee

a Starbucks 'experiment' that exposed modern sheep mentality

I was at Starbucks yesterday.

Standing in line.

Watching people.

But...

Something weird caught my eye.

This guy in front of me was staring at the menu for like 5 minutes straight.

The barista asked him three times what he wanted.

He kept saying "just a minute."

Was he reading the menu?

No.

Not really.

He was waiting for his girlfri end to text back about what she wanted.

Couldn't decide for himself.

Like he needed permission for coffee.

But then I noticed (or rather, remembered) this wasn't just him.

Every other person I’ve got to know throughout my life would be either on their phone checking reviews or asking friends what they "should" get.

I let it sink in.

As I realized this was everywhere...

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee, watching this pattern repeat all day.

So what's the lesson of this story?

Well for starters, people are sheep.

Second...

This is exactly what's happening in every area of life - not just coffee orders.

People are TERRIFIED of thinking for themselves.

We've created a society where 99% of people would rather Google "what should I think about [topic]" than spend 5 minutes forming their own opinion.

But why is this important for you to understand?

Because if you want to survive in this world.

You need to recognize this pattern.

You need to see how rare independent thought has become.

How people desperately search for pre-packaged opinions.

Don't be like my coffee shop zombies.

Learn to think critically.

Learn to question everything.

You won't even need to follow the crowd if you simply learn to trust your own mind.

But hey...

Understanding HOW the masses think never hurt anybody's success 😉
